The group depends on finding sufficient funds to maintain its operating requirements for social activities, mailing, general meeting venue costs and refreshments, printing and website maintenance.
While previous years saw the invaluable help that Bunnings sausage sizzles gave us, that all changed when COVID struck in 2020. Fortunately, at the same time, the Urology Department of Redcliffe Hospital developed a plan for a fun run and, in conjunction with our support group, the first of these was held in 2020. The results of the first 2 of these has boosted our funds so that we were able to provide donations to organisations associated with prostate cancer and depression. (Refer to the Fun Run section of this blog for full details of the next fun run event.) Other funds are being raised to offset the costs of general meeting refreshment and in 2022, a monthly meeting door raffle was started to help with this.
